Jr. Toddler Room – 18 months to 2+ years

In the Junior Toddler room we focus on the immerging independence of the child. As toddlers develop their language skills, we give them lots of opportunities to interact with peers and teachers on a more complex level. We encourage the beginning of self-help skills and self-reliance; focusing on positive reinforcement and praise. Ample time to explore and discover their world is alloted daily along with daily crafts, stories and songs. The children enjoy a music program twice weekly from September to June.

Senior Toddler Room – Age 2-3 years

In the Senior Toddler room we provide a caring and nurturing environment.  The children are taught many important life skills while socializing and making new friends. Our goals are for the toddlers to learn the basic concepts such as numbers, letters, colours and  shapes.  We encourage the children to lean many self-help skills such as toilet training, dressing and undressing themselves, as well as group table manners.  We teach these basic concepts and life skills by providing the children with a variety of crafts, songs, stories, outdoor activities & games as well as consistent reinforcement & praise.  All of these skills are what enable our toddlers to move to the Jr. Pre-School room with a smooth transition.  Along with our regular curriculum, we provide music for the toddlers. You should see them dance!

Jr. Pre-School Age 3-4 years

The Jr. Pre-School room is full of fun-filled learning activities. Everyday the children engage in a daily routine of crafts, circle, sensory/tactile, science, math & small group activities as well as lots of time for social interaction amongst themselves. Our small group activities focus on pre-school readiness skills (i.e.: number & letter recognition, small motor control) Our larger circles provide the children with the opportunity to enjoy their favorite stories, songs & movement activities.
The children enjoy monthly trips to the library throughout the year. During the summer months, we have weekly trips to fun & educational places around the city. From Sept. to June we have music, French, & Computer classes.
We focus on equipping the children with the skills on how to operate within a group dynamic which involves problem solving in a positive manner, so that when they move on to the Sr. Pre-School room, they have a solid foundation to build upon.

Senior Pre-School Age 4-5 years

In the Sr. Preschool room we run a fun filled, action packed school readiness program. Our goal is to prepare the children for primary. Each week we explore a different theme through our daily activities. Key components of our program are learning circles, crafts, math, science, and sensory/tactile. School readiness skills are developed through all of our daily activities. We work on printing letters, cutting, doing up buttons and zippers, tying shoes, etc. Many of the children in the Sr. Preschool room do not nap anymore. However, the opportunity is there for those who wish to nap. Quiet time in the Sr. Preschool room consists of daily reading of chapter books such as “Charlotte’s Web,” “The Wind and the Willows,” and “The Mouse and the Motorcycle.” After reading time quiet educational toys are then explored on individual mats. Throughout the year the children take trips to the library where they sign out books to take back to the daycare to enjoy. During the summer months we take part in weekly field trips to places like the Discovery Center, Public Gardens, the wave pool, and a ride across the ferry to play on the playground at Alderney Landing. Our program also includes music, French, aerobics, and computer time. Come and check us out.
